Vancouver Heritage Foundation: created as a private, charitable organization in 1992 by the Mayor and Council of the City of Vancouver, who remain its honorary patrons until today. Under the direction of a private citizen Board of Directors, the Foundation assists with the conservation of Vancouver's built heritage, in recognition of its public benefit.



Each year we gratefully welcome and recognize individuals who have become Friends of the Foundation. Our annual Friends funds help to sustain the operations of the Foundation. Our city urgently needs a source of stable funding to benefit the preservation of its heritage buildings. In 1986 there were over 2800 buildings on the City's heritage register. Today, 20 years later, more than 700 of these buildings are gone from the register either through demolition, redevelopment or neglect. The Vancouver Heritage Foundation is committed to reversing this trend, through education, public awareness and providing grants to building owners to maintain and restore their buildings. We need your help to meet our fundraising goals. By becoming a Friend of the Foundation, contributing to our Endowment Fund at the Vancouver Foundation, or by remembering the Vancouver Heritage Foundation in your will, you can help to raise awareness and preserve heritage buildings. The Vancouver Heritage Foundation is a registered charity. All charitable donations are eligible for a tax receipt.
