Doors Open Vancouver

Free access to architecture, green design and cultural heritage

Saturday, June 24th 2017

10am – 5pm

Doors Open Vancouver (DOV) is back and offers special behind-the-scenes access to popular Vancouver buildings for one day only! This free event connects residents with the buildings they know and love, invites them to discover new ones and encourages curiosity and conversation about Vancouver’s built form, history, heritage, and culture.

In its first year, DOV generated 8,600 visits which grew to over 14,500 visits the next year. It is an excellent opportunity to experience Vancouver’s architecture, green design, and cultural heritage. We are pleased to have been able to help with the programming and planning of this popular event.

Doors Open Vancouver is a city-wide one-day event that offers free access to twenty sites and buildings, some not normally open to the public. Now in its third year, DOV is adding some new highlights to the event. Up until now, DOV has showcased City-owned buildings exclusively. And while several favourites are returning, the programming is expanding to also include privately-owned buildings. The final list of buildings will be posted on the official event webpage soon.

DOV is hosted by the Mayor’s Engaged City Task Force, and is brought to you by the City of Vancouver in partnership with Vancouver Heritage Foundation, Tourism Vancouver, Cascadia Green Building Council, and the Architectural Institute of British Columbia.

Call for volunteers

Do you have a passion for architecture and urban design and take pride in this city? DOV is looking for engaged, committed and enthusiastic individuals to help on the day of the event – and occasionally before. Volunteering allows you to meet like-minded individuals and share your love for Vancouver with visitors. You'll get a collectible t-shirt to take home and an invitation to the exclusive wrap party.

Volunteers will take on a variety of roles over this one-day event and all volunteers will be required to participate in a training session. For more information of volunteering at Doors Open 2017 visit the Doors Open website.
