Launched in 2011 as part of Vancouver’s 125th anniversary celebrations, Places That Matter commemorates and raises awareness about the people, places and events that shape our city. We continue to tell the lesser known histories of Vancouver’s unique communities, parks, buildings and neighbourhoods through community stories and research. Discover the layers of history at each site with archival images, current photos and online resources. Submit a personal story or photograph of a site and see the project grow!

Join VHF on the West End Heritage Tour on Saturday September 29th. We’ll be at the Haywood Bandstand with more info on this project. Come with your stories and questions! Explore anytime our 3 Places That Matter plaques highlighting some of the stories of the West End.
