September Volunteer Opportunities

Car Free Day

Location: Main Street, Vancouver
Event Date: Sunday, September 16th
Time commitment: 4 hours

Role:  

  • Share information, print materials, and answer questions.
  • Accept donations
  • Assist with a hands-on craft activity

Qualifications:  

  • 16+ years of age  
  • Positive and friendly attitude with great inter-personal skills and eager to connect with diverse audiences 
  • Knowledge about heritage, architecture or history is not necessary, but  very welcome  

Support: Volunteers report to the Administration and Program Coordinator and will be supported on-site by other VHF staff members.

*Note: this event takes place outdoors rain or shine on the street. A tent covering and chairs will be provided, as well as cold drinks.

Fall Fundraising Gala

Location: Cecil Green Park House, UBC
Event Date: Thursday, September 28th
Time commitment: 4 hours

Roles:  

  • Greeting & Check-in – stationed at the front door. Assist with checking tickets, taking coats, answering questions and directing around the building.
  • Silent virtual auction – assist with setting up and cleaning up the auction table. Familiarize yourself with the auction items and online-bidding process, answering questions for bidders. Help create set-up participant bidding accounts, directing winners to make payment and releasing items when payment has been made.
  • 50/50 draw – Engage participants around the venue in an out-going and enthusiastic manner to process fast-paced ticket sales.

Qualifications:  

  • 19+ years of age. 
  • Positive and friendly attitude with great inter-personal skills and eager to connect with diverse audiences. 
  • Able to take direction and manage tasks independently .
  • Knowledge about heritage, architecture or history is not necessary, but  very welcome.
  • General ambassadorship and are familiar with VHF’s focus on heritage education for this year’s gala and annual fundraising campaign, based on the materials provided by VHF.
  • Able to answer questions about “what do the donated dollars do?” based on materials provided by VHF.

Support: Volunteers report to the Administration and Program Coordinator and Executive Director, and will be supported on-site by other VHF staff members. Light bites and non-alcoholic beverages will be provided.
