Heritage Discovery Day – Site Expectations

I understand that my home will be open for ticketholders from 10am to 5pm on the day of the tour. Access will be provided to volunteers, who will arrive at 9am to set up and will leave the premises by 5:30pm after cleaning up.

If there are pets and animals who live in the house, they must be kept in a separate part of the space that is not open to the public or taken off the premises for the duration of the day.

Photographs will only be taken by VHF staff and volunteer photographers. Martin Knowles, the main volunteer photographer for Heritage Discovery Day, may come to take exterior photos in the spring on his own but will not require access to the house. All interior photographs, if desired, will be coordinated to occur at the same time as the second site visit.

Access will be provided to volunteers, who will arrive at 9am to set up and will leave the premises by 5:30pm after cleaning up. We cannot accept partial opening hours as this causes confusion for the event’s visitors.

As this is a private event only open to ticket holders, I understand my site needs to be closed to the public for the full duration of the event. VHF will provide signage in advance to be placed on site informing your general visitors and patrons of the ticketed event.

I understand that I must inform VHF by the end of February if our site needs additional support with volunteers beyond what was discussed at the initial site visit. VHF typically assign a few volunteers for crowd control and checking the tickets. Some community sites prefer to have extra volunteers on site during the event based on the size of the building, etc., while some other sites prefer to have their own volunteers and/or staff on site with a minimum number of VHF volunteers for support.
